Frequently asked questions
Search the questions our teams answer every day. Can't find it? Beryl can help, or send us a message and the right team will reply.
How do I cancel my membership?
Use the cancellation form in Manage my membership, giving ten days' notice before your next payment date (the 1st or 15th). If you're within ten days of a payment, that payment is still collected and your membership ends from the following date. The form captures your membership number so we can action it the same day.
How do I suspend my membership, and what does it cost?
Suspend for 1, 2 or 3 months for £5 a month while suspended. Suspensions start and end on your payment date, need ten days' notice, and you can hold up to three months in any twelve. Worth knowing: a three-month suspension costs £15, while cancelling and rejoining costs a £25 joining fee, so suspending is usually the cheaper way to take a break.
I'm already suspended. Can I extend?
If you've used less than three months in the last twelve, yes. If you've already had the full three months you'll need to reactivate for at least a month before suspending again. Our team confirms either way.
I picked the wrong membership when I joined. Can I change it?
Yes. Use the change form and we'll switch you from your next payment date. If you've been paying for things you don't use, or using things you're not paying for, we'd rather fix it than argue about it.
What proof do I need for a concession or corporate membership?
Upload your evidence (a payslip, ID badge or entitlement letter) through the app or your online account within 14 days of joining. Our team checks uploads every working day. Without proof, the membership reverts to the standard rate.
Can my child join online?
Not yet. For members under 16 the person paying the direct debit must be present, so junior joining happens at your centre with a parent or guardian. Junior Fitness (11-15) is £18 a month and includes induction, junior gym sessions and pool access.
How do joint memberships work?
The first person joins as the lead member and pays for the agreement. We then email you a short form to tell us who your joint partner is, and our team links the two accounts. You each keep your own login, app, bookings and access; only the billing is shared.
Do you do an annual membership?
You can pay a year up front and get 12 months for the price of 9 (usually around Black Friday). We don't do annual direct debit contracts: every monthly membership is rolling, so you're never locked in.
Can I rejoin after cancelling?
Any time. Enter your email at the checkout and it will recognise you, prompt a password reset if needed, and pick up your history. Any arrears from a previous agreement are added to your first payment. Please don't create a new account with a changed email: it breaks your history and your welcome emails.
When is my direct debit collected?
On the 1st or the 15th of the month, your choice at joining, changeable later via the change form. UK bank accounts only.
My payment failed. What happens now?
We re-present failed payments on the next collection date, and you can pay online or at your centre in the meantime. A second consecutive failure may end the agreement. Arrears need clearing before you can use the facilities again, and outstanding amounts are added to your first payment if you rejoin later.
Can I get a refund?
Once a monthly payment has been collected we don't refund it in full or part. For paid classes cancelled with more than two hours' notice, you receive a credit on your account to spend on a future booking.
How do I change my bank details?
In the app or your online account: Account Details → Billing. For your security our teams never take bank details by email, phone or chat, and Beryl will always send you to the app for this.
Do you have promo codes?
Sometimes, on our socials and campaigns. Enter the code on the payment page of the online checkout and it applies the offer automatically.
How do I book a class?
In the DLL app: Bookings → Fitness Classes, pick your class and you're in. Members book 7 days ahead, non-members 4 days. If a class is payable it takes payment in the app. Cancel the same way, up to two hours before the start.
What is a strike and why did I get one?
Classes are busy, and empty booked spaces keep other people out. If you don't check in for a booked class, or cancel within two hours of the start, you get a strike. Each strike expires after about 14 days; three at once pauses booking for a few days. Got a strike but you were there? You probably didn't scan the QR code in the studio: scan every time and it can't happen. Think one's wrong? Reply to the strike email and the bookings team will check it against the class register.
How do I book a squash court, pitch or sports hall?
Call your centre and pay when you book. Court and pitch bookings aren't online yet. Cancel with more than 48 hours' notice for a credit.
I run a club. How do block bookings work?
Block bookings are invoiced 30 days in advance, and paying the invoice secures the following month. Cancel individual sessions with seven days' notice for a credit. for availability and pricing.
Why do I have to check in with the QR code?
Scanning at the door and in the studio is how the system knows you attended, which protects you from wrong strikes, keeps classes fair, and helps us programme the timetable around what people actually use.
How do I start my child's swimming lessons?
with your child's age and preferred pool. We place every child personally so they start at the right level. Lessons run at Corwen, Ruthin, Denbigh, Rhyl and NOVA Prestatyn, following the Nofio Cymru framework.
How do I see my child's progress?
Through the Home Portal, updated after each lesson by the teacher. When your child reaches 100% of their level we'll be in touch about moving up.
Can I suspend swimming lessons?
For one month, with a doctor's note, because held places keep other children on the waiting list. Otherwise the place stays yours as long as the subscription is active.
When can I just turn up and swim?
Any public or lane session on the timetable, no booking needed: scan in and swim. The timetables above are live from the current programme; check the app around the school holidays because they change each half term.
What are the rules for children in the pool?
Under 3s swim one-to-one with an adult (or one adult to two children if both wear flotation aids). Ages 3-7, one adult may supervise up to two children. Supervising adults must be 16 or over and stay in the water. Children over 8 use the appropriate changing rooms independently.
Ga i ohebu yn Gymraeg? / Can I deal with you in Welsh?
Cewch, wrth gwrs. Rydym yn croesawu gohebiaeth yn y Gymraeg, a bydd rhywun sy'n siarad Cymraeg yn ymateb. Write to us in Welsh and a Welsh speaker will reply. Beryl understands Welsh too, and hands over to a Welsh speaker for anything she can't yet answer in Cymraeg.
I can't log into the app. What do I do?
Use Forgot password on the login screen: your email address is your username. If the reset email doesn't arrive, check junk, then contact your centre and we'll check the email on your account. Please don't create a second account, it splits your membership history.
How do I make a complaint?
and it goes straight to the right manager. Complaints get a full response within 10 working days because we investigate properly. Simple membership queries are answered within 48 hours on working days.
How quickly will you reply to my enquiry?
Membership changes: within 48 hours, usually same working day. General enquiries, donations and anything needing investigation: up to 10 working days. Our teams work Monday to Friday. Beryl answers instantly, any hour, any day.
Do you donate raffle prizes to charity events?
We support lots of local causes. with the date and cause, and the team will come back to you within ten working days.
Are you hiring?
Current vacancies are always at careers.dll.co.uk, from lifeguards and swim teachers to guest services.
Do I need a membership for SC2, TAG or soft play?
No. The attractions are pay-per-visit with timed sessions: book at sc2rhyl.co.uk, and book ahead in school holidays. DLL members get discounts on selected activities.
How do you handle my personal data?
Our privacy notice covers what we hold and why. You can ask us to anonymise your records at any time via the contact form, marked for our Data Protection Officer.
